Nrityabharati

Since its inception in 1994, Nrityabharati, the training wing of SUNAINA, one of the leading dance institutes of Delhi, has been imparting training in Classical dance and music with sincere devotion and dedication for the past 16 years to hundreds of young students. Every year the academy presents around hundred deserving and talented students in many renowned theatres and cultural platforms of India. Its Founder Director, Guru Smt Kanaka Sudhakar, has personally trained more than 500 students to perfect and understand the nuances of this art form. Nrityabharati is affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya Mandal Miraj upto Visharad level. Every year Nrityabharati conducts annual dance and music examination till degree level for more than 250 candidates in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Carnatic Vocal, Hindustani Vocal, Tabla, Instruments etc. With its aim to spread Bharatanatyam amongst the masses, Nrityabharati has opened its branches in Tilak Nagar, Tagore Garden, Dwaraka, Lawrence Road and is very soon establishing in Paharganj as well.

ACTIVITIES OF NRITYABHARTI (2009)
The results of the annual Dance and Music exams arrived with 98% pass percentage.
The Tyagaraja Aradhana performance was organized at Karnataka Sangha and Ram Mandir.
The talented artistes of SUNAINA – S. Swati, Aparajita, Vaishnavi and Aarathy were invited by Ta Ka Dhi Mi Tha competition on Chennai Doordarshan where Aparajita got first prize.
On 2nd April the senior disciples of Nrityabharati (training wing) gave a scintillating performance for Sulabh Group for the Founder’s Day celebrations.
On 22nd April UDHAYAM, a traditional performance on Tamil New Year Day in collaboration with the Sahitya Kala Parishad was presented at the Delhi Tamil Sangam by the disciples and Guru Smt Kanaka Sudhakar in a dance drama- Navarasa Nayaki.
35 young talented artistes were taken to Pune- Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh to participate in the Annual Dance Festival where we bagged 7 first prizes, 9 second prizes, 4 third prizes and 12 consolation prizes.
One of our students Sowmya Bhaskar was awarded junior scholarship by CCRT for her merit in Bharatanatyam.
The senior most artists of Nrityabharati presented Ashtalakshmi at Jaipur on the occasion of the marriage of the royal bride.
The senior artistes of Nrityabharati presented a scintillating performance KRISHNA at the Birla Mandir on August 14th.
The junior Artistes of SUNAINA presented ‘Ganesha Nee Vaa at the Astika Samajam – Lawrence Road on 23rd of August.
The senior artistes of SUNAINA presented a performance Jai Maa Durge for the Paschimi Dilli Kali Badi for Dushehra.
Ten of our senior most Disciples were invited to Madurai – Meenakshi Amman Temple to perform in the Navarathiri festival.
The young children of Nrityabharati performed children’s stories for Doordarshan.
The Annual theory examinations were conducted at the centre held by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidhhyalaya Mandal – Miraj where 147 candidates appeared for their Bharatanatyam vocal and other exams.
The practical examinations were conducted from 28th November to 21st of December 2009 from Prarambik to Post graduation final year in performing arts.
The training wing Nrityabharati performed at the Astika Samaj Lawrence road for Mandala Poojas.
The students of the training wing performed at the Alaknanda Temple for Mandala Puja.
2007-2008
A new branch in Lawrence road was started.
The students of Nrityabharati performed Pongal festival at the Delhi Tamil Sangam in which Anusha Ramachandran – our student won accolades for the exceptional performance. In this program Guru Kanaka Sudhakar and her senior disciples presented NAVARASA NAYAKI - a dance drama on the relationship of Shiva and Parvati. Kanaka Sudhakar played the role of Parvati and Aparajita her daughter and senior disciple the role of Shiva.
The senior students of Nrityabharati the Trio Sisters Renuka, Vipanchi and Parvathy performed a scintillating performance at the Delhi Tamil Sangam for the New Year at the Delhi Tamil Sangam
The trio sisters and Km Aparajita Sarma performed a full Bharatantyam recital at the Epicentre – Habitat Centre Gurgaon on May 9th 2008.
ASHTALAKSHMI- THE WOMAN– a concept of Guru kanaka Sudhakar in which the woman was depicted as a form of Goddess Lakshmi endowed with all Her qualities was presented at the Delhi Tamil Sangam as Dance drama on the story of Rani of Jhansi – Lakshmi Bai based on fusion music. In this program, which marked the 21st Annual Function, about 110 students performed.
40 students of Nrityabharati participated in the Multilingual Dance and Music festival at Pune 2008 and won 21 awards. Aparajita Sarma and Sonali Sarma were awarded the NRITYANIVEDITA Puraskar.
250 students appeared for the Annual Dance and Music exams at the Nrityabharati Centre this year. The students of Nrityabharati performed in the Mandala Puja Celebrations this year at the R.K. Puram Temple, Lawrence road and Alaknanda Noida.
22 students of Nrityabharati participated at the All India Dance Competitions at Dehradun organized by U.S.S.N.A.
